light and color
“Light and Color” is a series of experimental photoshoots with a single model, dedicated to exploring the expressive potential of studio lighting as a primary artistic tool. The project investigates the interplay of body, color, and shadow, focusing on how light can shape visual space and emotional tone.
Concept: Each shoot in the series offers a unique variation on the perception of form, movement, and color. Light is not just an illuminating element, but an active participant in the composition — setting rhythm, boundaries, and emotional focus.
The setup involves four light sources: two lights with colored filters directed at the background, creating a dynamic, layered atmosphere; one fill light with a soft diffusion modifier; one key (shaping) light, equipped with a colored filter and perforated grid, casting sculptural patterns of light and shadow across the model and backdrop.
Technique & Approach: By combining gels, distances, and modifiers, the lighting effects range from soft, watercolor-like gradients to bold, graphic shadow play. Color is not used decoratively, but as a meaningful, expressive layer. The model’s poses are chosen to respond to the light — the body’s movement and orientation are dictated by the structure and direction of illumination. Styling and props are minimal to keep the focus on light as the subject.
Result: A visually diverse yet conceptually unified series of fine art photographs showcasing mastery of color, light, and spatial design. The project is ideal for exhibition formats, visual portfolios, or as a standalone series of photo posters.
